Mowing Halted at National Parks After Fatal Fall

We were in the mountains today and as soon as we turned on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the first thing we noticed was the very long grass. I have never seen the Parkway in this condition ..... usually, it looks pretty 'manicured' along the road and around the overlooks/parking lots.

The mowing was stopped because of a fatal accident on the Parkway in North Carolina - here is a link to a story regarding the accident and the situation with the mowing:

We did talk to one of the Park employees at the Visitors Center and he said at this time, they can only mow with a push mower or something like a swing blade. He is cutting the grass at the cabin with a scythe!
