Will and Hillary on Belle Isle
There was a special wedding Friday at 4:00 p.m., September 21, 2012 on Belle Isle in the James River. One of our maintainer volunteers, Major Will B., married his lovely fiance Hillary with the sun shining and the James River providing a scenic backdrop for the ceremony and they have graciously allowed the pictures of their special day to be shared with everyone.
Will started out participating on work trips two year ago which required some extra travel from Fort Lee to meet us at the Parham Park and Ride. He most often worked on the "heavy duty" rock projects on these trips and eventually took over duties as a section maintainer for one of the 2-mile 'wild and rugged' west side sections of the AT. Will quickly became 'one of our own' as far as the maintainer crew family goes and in addition to the hours of hard work he put in, we all enjoyed his company both on and off the trail. Earlier this year, Will was transferred to Fort Bragg which means that he is too far away to continue as a section maintainer so we will very much miss seeing Will on a regular basis and look forward to the occasions when he and Hillary will be able to make the trip back to Virginia for a visit.
Congratulations to this beautiful couple and all of us wish Will and Hillary much joy and a wonderful journey as they build their new life together.
The Wedding Pictures
The Wedding site: Belle Isle is a 56 acre parcel of rugged wildness in the heart of the city, which provides outdoor adventure activities, river access to the public, history, and spectacular views of the James River corridor and some of its most dramatic rapids and rock outcroppings.
The reception was at the Marriott Downtown on Broad Street.
