Winter (i.e. ice/snow) is finally here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ice on the trees like this could mean branches and perhaps trees down on the AT. We may have some work to do out on the trail as soon as the weather and road conditions permit.

 

Today (Dec. 27), the BRP is closed due to snow and ice from MP 0 Rockfish Gap and well past Reed's Gap to MP 61.4 which is the Rt 130 Crossover East to Lynchburg 20 mi., West to Glasgow 9 mi., and Natural Bridge 15 mi. Other sections of BRP are also closed. The entire length of the Skyline Drive (SNP) is closed today due to snow and ice.
