AT running through Damascus
Yesterday, during the Trail Days parade in Damascus, VA, an elderly man who was driving the last vehicle in the parade, lost control and plowed into hikers and spectators. Approximately 50-60 were injured, some seriously, requiring three to be evacuated by helicopter to the hospital. It appears that the elderly gentleman suffered a medical condition that caused him to lose control of his vehicle. The good news: "both Nunley and Washington County Emergency Services Director Pokey Harris said Saturday evening that the conditions of the seriously injured had been improved to stable". There are a couple of articles with more details about this event online and it's being reported on the national news.
