Predator and Red Velvet
Thru-hikers from New Hampshire
June 15, 2013
During our work trip yesterday and while on Section 7, David A. and I were doing some water bar work. It was time to move a big rock so he was looking for his work gloves ...... and not finding them. As he unloaded his pack, I was fairly astonished to see a six-pack of Mountain Dew and a large container of cookies emerge from the depths. The drinks are heavy, but I thought maybe he just wanted a treat while we worked our way down the back side of Humpback Mountain.
Then along came Predator and Red Velvet, thru-hikers from New Hampshire. It turns out that David, an AT and PCT thru-hiker himself in years past, was carrying those heavy drinks and cookies so he could work a little "Trail Magic". Predator and Red Velvet enjoyed their drinks and cookies and we thoroughly enjoyed talking to them!
I asked permission to take their photo and post it on the blog - they said 'yes' and were happy because their folks haven't seen them in a while. Red Velvet was looking forward to the Chinese buffet in Waynesboro so once the drinks were finished, they headed out north with about 11 miles to go to Rockfish and a ride into town.
Happy Trails Predator & Red Velvet!
Six-pack of Dew ..... minus two!
Trail names: Predator got hers due to her hair style and Red Velvet as in 'red velvet cake', which to some folks is virtually a Southern "delicacy".
