Rockfish Gap (BRP Milepost 0) to Naughty Girl Creek

Rockfish Gap - where the Rockfish to Reed's section begins, at a post with a double blaze just off the BRP, then through a grassy field to the woods as you head south.

A taller post with double blazes was recently added - evidently hikers were missing the double blazes on the guardrail and having trouble finding the trailhead. Yes, that is a cup hanging on the post! (Photo: Lori A.)

Scenic little creek - the first one you get to heading south, beautiful little spot!

Naughty Girl Creek - An ATC Regional Rep many years ago named this creek ..... supposedly having something to do with the maintainers (both ladies) at the time. The primary maintainer was present when the name was given but does not know 'why' other than the rep 'looked at her' when he said the creek would be called Naughty Girl Creek. This maintainer is the epitome of a true, genteel Southern Lady (definitely not 'naughty') so perhaps the creek was named the exact opposite in a bit of friendly, dramatic irony.
