Naughty Girl Creek to Long Rock (aka Jelly Bean Rock)

Rock steps up to a switchback, - Steps are reached soon after crossing Naughty Girl Creek. In this step area, many trees went down (Hurricane Fran?) and opened the area up to lots of sunshine.


Old Cabin Ruins -  At the turn of the century (1900), there were people who lived in this area along the trail and the hollow beyond. This little cabin with its chimney was the home of the Mayo family and is a good reminder of how primitive life was back in those days - cabins were not very big so there was less to heat in the winter. Still working on getting some of the info rounded up that a relative of the settlers told one of the maintainers and will add it later.

Long Rock (aka Jelly Bean Rock) - A very large, long rock that marks the end of this section. It's a great place for a picnic lunch. The maintainers initially called this 'Jelly Bean Rock'; however, a relative of the folks who used to live in the hollow south of the rock told us they called it "Long Rock" ... so Long Rock it has been for the last several years.
