Wicked Wienies
Large
Batch in Crockpot:
- 2 packages Little Smokies (about 50 per pack, total 100)
- 1 bottle (32 or 36 oz) ketchup
- 1 bottle (10-16 oz.) BBQ sauce (about 1/2 the amount as ketchup - ounces don't have to be exact)
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Directions:
- Combine well: ketchup, BBQ sauce, bourbon, brown sugar & Worcestershire sauce. I usually do this in a pan on the stove and heat everything enough to get the sugar dissolved and all ingredients well-combined, but you could combine it all cold.
- Add sausages to the crock pot, then pour sauce over them.
- Cook on high for several hours, then switch to low for a couple of hours. Stir every couple of hours. Sausages become more dense (& delicious) the longer they cook (6-8 hours or so).
Small
batch (Crockpot or Stove-Top):
Little
Smokies (1 pkg)
2
cups ketchup
1
cup BBQ sauce
1/4
cup bourbon
1/4
cup brown sugar
1-2
tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
This smaller batch is good for a quick 'stove top' version .... use a pan to make the sauce as above, then add the Little Smokies and simmer until heated through (see package directions for how long/temp to heat). Not quite the same as those cooked in the crockpot for hours, but still really good!
