We're trying something new this month by getting into the Blog scene. Karen has put a lot of effort into documenting our antics on and off the trail in addition to providing some educational materials along the way. This will be a wonderful area for keeping a history of what we've done and for posting what's on the schedule ahead. Feel free to post comments, or, submit articles to Karen and she'll see that they get officially entered into the blog.
As for May, there were 11 people on the work trip. I'm sorry I had to miss out on this one, it was such a gorgeous day, but, Fran took charge and made sure everyone was kept busy out on the trail. Fran and John finished up the blue blazing around the Jack Albright trail, Glass Hollow and the small section from the Howardsville to Humpback parking. Wow, that's a lot of territory to paint. Next on the list is up the trail to Humpback Rocks. Jim, Christina, Ed F. and Ed's nephew, Kevin started out at Rockfish Gap and did a wonderful job on additional waterbars and trail rehab. Ed P., Margaret and David A. started at Three Ridges overlook and took in the weed whacking tools to get the weeds on the west side up to cripple creek under control. Dave G and Karen started behind Humpback Rocks and took care of weeding, waterbars, etc around the back side of the mountain down to Humpback Parking. Wow...a tremendous amount of work was done and a big thank you to all who attended. THANK YOU!!

Aside from being out on the trail (the ultimate 'fun'!), part of what makes maintaining so special is sharing what happens with other maintainers & folks interested in or new to trail maintenance. It is hard for the entire group to get together frequently enough to keep up with everything .... even on work trips, we meet briefly at the tool shed and shortly thereafter, we're all going our separate ways to work on the various trail sections. This blog is to let everyone in on what goes on ... a good example being the 'dead snake in the tree' story that happened on the April work trip - story by Ed P. on the blog A Surprise for the Sawyers (& Big Tree Bites the Dust). We'll still be telling stories around the dinner table after the work trips, but for those that can't be on the work trip or stay for dinner, maybe this blog will help keep everyone 'in the loop'.

If you would like to visit the blog, you can use the link at the bottom of this post/email.
