It was a great day for ducks, not work crews!
The work trip to help out James River Parks has been cancelled twice now, the first time for snow/rain (Feb. 16) and then again this past Saturday (Feb. 23) for rain and extremely wet conditions. So ......... just how wet was it Saturday?

Water, water everywhere!
Despite the washed out work trip, three of us scouted The Wetlands Saturday and in consultation with the JRP employee in charge of the project, came up with a work plan for the area. This should maximize the effectiveness of what we hope to be doing to assist the James River Parks and help us get the crews organized and on task more quickly if a rescheduled work trip actually happens, weather permitting.

We will try one more time next Saturday, March 2, to get a crew in to The Wetlands to cut back/treat stumps of the invasive 'Tree of Heaven', clean up brush and briers, and trim up some larger trees so the JRP employees can get equipment around them safely. Hopefully, next Saturday will not be the third washout because this will be our last chance to help out ......... our March work trip is scheduled to be back in the mountains on the AT.
